Questions

What Ficha is, what it does with your money, and what it doesn't.

What is Ficha?

A wallet for digital dollars and bitcoin, with a Vault for what you want to keep. It's coming to iOS and Android.

Is Ficha a bank?

No. Ficha is not a bank, and what you keep in it isn't a bank deposit. Digital dollars and bitcoin are digital assets: their value can change and is not guaranteed.

What are digital dollars?

Dollars as tokens, held in a wallet instead of a bank. Different companies issue them: USDT, from Tether, and USDC, from Circle, are two of them. In Ficha they're USDC, issued by Circle, a US company. Each USDC is backed by one dollar in cash or short-term US Treasuries, and Circle publishes its reserves every month. They aren't a bank deposit, no government guarantees them, and Circle can freeze them, for example under a court order. You keep them in your Wallet or in Vault, and either way you can send them to another wallet. They don't pay interest.

Why digital dollars?

Because dollars in a bank at home can be rationed, frozen or turned into local money, and banks close. Digital dollars in Ficha aren't in any bank at home. They have risks of their own: no deposit insurance, and their issuer can freeze them. The cases, with sources.

How do I add dollars?

Send them to your Wallet from any exchange or another wallet, as USDC or USDT. USDC on Base arrives as it is. USDC on Ethereum, Arbitrum or Solana, and USDT on those networks or on Tron, is converted to digital dollars as it arrives, for a fee the app shows you first. In some countries, you can also buy them in the app.

How do I receive bitcoin?

At yourname@ficha.com, an address that reads like an email, and it arrives instantly. To send to another Ficha client, their name is enough.

Why no other cryptocurrencies?

There are digital dollars and bitcoin, nothing else. Bitcoin has a fixed limit of 21 million and doesn't depend on any company or government: for long-term savings, you don't need another. The reasons, with data and sources.

Do my dollars or bitcoin earn interest?

No. Neither one pays interest, and they're never lent or pledged as collateral. Why there's no yield.

Can Ficha move or freeze my money?

No. What's in your Wallet moves only with your key. In Vault, no key is enough on its own, so Ficha alone can't move it or freeze it.1

Can Circle freeze my dollars?

Yes. The dollars are USDC, issued by Circle, which can freeze them wherever they are, for example under a court order.

Who can see what I send or receive?

When you send or receive, the other person sees only that transfer, not how much you have. Nor can anyone looking it up online.

Does Ficha need my address?

No. There's no device to send you, and Ficha never asks where you live.

Why Vault, if my Wallet is already mine?

Because everything in your Wallet depends on a single key. Vault puts your savings behind three keys: yours, Ficha's and a recovery key. If you lose yours, your savings aren't lost. A stolen one isn't enough on its own. And you name who should receive them. How Vault works.

What if I lose my phone?

Your Wallet comes back when you sign in with your Apple or Google account on the new phone, so keep that account safe. If you lose your Vault key, your recovery contacts confirm it's you, and your recovery key and Ficha's move your savings to a new vault.

Can I leave my savings to someone?

In Vault, yes: you name who should receive them if you're gone. While you're here, nothing changes.

What does it cost?

Buying or selling bitcoin with your dollars has a spread of less than 1%. Buying dollars in the app, in some countries, costs only the payment provider's fee, which you see before you confirm. Vault's first month is free; after that it's a monthly or yearly subscription through the App Store or Google Play.
